Mirroring our social media posts, I’ll be adding blog posts featuring different knots used in spearfishing and boating. Hope you find this informational!
The first knot featured is the sheet bend. It is simple and utilitarian knot. traditionally used to pair lines of different diameter (e.g. heaving line to mooring line), the sheet bend is commonly used in spearfishing to secure tie-in power bands.
Start by doubling up the bitter end of the first line to make a bight (if not already tying into a loop).
Pass the bitter end of the second line up through the bight formed in the previous step…
around the back of the loop…
and underneath itself.
For extra security (recommended for power bands), make a second wrap with the line around and under again.
