The Fourth of July has come and passed, and we are in the HEAT of summer now! There are reports of tuna in the canyons, and the inshore fishing is on fire! We put in the time over the winter to earn these months, so ENJOY them and make the most of every opportunity!
The first FII Level 1 Freedive Course was a great success, and I cannot thank my first group of students enough! I was humbled to watch them work through their own personal challenges and reach new depths that exceeded what they thought was possible going into the course. Great job, guys—you left me even more excited for my next course! I have a handful of courses scheduled throughout the summer here in Rhode Island, along with one road trip in August, where I'll be teaching two courses in Michigan hosted by John Durtka of the Michigan Spearfishing Association. I'm super excited to help the exploding population of spearos on the Great Lakes!

The spearguns are stacking up on the bench—the faster I finish one, the more orders seem to appear in its place! The 75–90 cm Watch Hill Reef Gun has been extremely popular lately, as divers target inshore species here in Rhode Island with a versatile, all-around speargun. In addition to custom builds, I've been working to get OSS into more shops. Bunger Sayville on Long Island just received a batch, and I'm currently building a couple of guns for a shop down in Florida. If you know any freedive or spearfishing shops looking to carry high-quality, hand-built spearguns, send them to OSS!
While I've been busy making sawdust, Team OSS divers have been busy putting fish on the deck! John had an outstanding walleye hunt with none other than Steven Rinella himself using the "MeatEater" OSS speargun. Our newest team member, Frankie, also broke in his brand-new Atlantis by landing a pile of cobia and red snapper down in the Gulf. Stay tuned for a few more exciting additions to the team!
